Mix Bus Towards Finishing Ideas

• Do Not Add a Compressor to the Mix Bus at the Mixing Start, i.e. Do Not Look for Glue or Mix into Compression for Better Balances

• Instead Try a Particular Chain to Test the Final Mix Towards a Finished Style

1) Small Amount of Saturation in the Box, Help the Bottom have a Little More Harmonics and Shimmer

2) Add EQ to Bump a Little between 30Hz and 100Hz

3) Try Following with External Hardware (or else with Plugins)

a) Analog Color Box

b) “A Design” Hardware Compressor, i.e. Very Small Peak Compression or Better Limiting

c) “A Design” 3 Band EQ and Pultec

• Bump Bottom, Push a Little Energy at Around 800Hz (800Hz is Pretty the Foundation of Midrange and can Fix a Whole Mix)

• Soften Up 5kHz with Hardware EQ and then Dial Back with Pultec at 12kHz or 16kHz

– When the Hardware EQ Adds Too Much 10kHz then Dial 10kHz Back via Pultec 

4) Add some Compression / Density, i.e. Go into Heavy Compression and then Dial Way Back to Retain the Openness Again, Check Parallel Mix Sweet Spot, 2:1

5) Add a Waveshaper, “Curve” between 30% and 35%, “Effect” Level between 20% and 30%, Listen to the Change in the Low Frequencies
