72 Presets for Apulsoft apShaper

apShaper from Apulsoft is a sophisticated Audio Software Plugin to add Harmonics / Tube Saturation / Classic Saturation / Clipping / Tape Saturation / Bit Crushing and Waveshaping.

Since v1.2.6, apShaper ships with a collection of new presets. They are located in the preset folders starting with ‘YS’.

apShaper Presets Video Demo

Presets are designed as inserts, except for the 4 labeled with (Send), which are intended to be used in parallel. Based on years of experience, they are aimed at subtle enhancement, leaning towards a clean sound but often with (analog-like) nonlinearities, and they can be used on any source. Each preset comes with dedicated hints to help you get there faster.

For best results, set the input source level so that it sits around -23 to -25 LUFS integrated, with peaks between -12 and -8. Every preset is gain-matched as closely as possible, so you can scroll through them smoothly without volume jumps. The final outcome depends on the input material, so adjust the Output knob for fine gain matching when needed. Small differences add up to a big difference, so a proper listening environment, such as professional headphones or monitors, will help you hear them clearly.

The effect of apShaper is greater, and stacks even better, when you use dedicated saturation across many channels rather than over a single mix as shown in the demo video. All sound demos in the video are exports straight from my production stage, with no mixing, mastering, or additional processing applied (except for a final limiter added solely for the video). This lets you hear how a single apShaper instance sounds on sources that still need work.
