General

– to Learn and Know the Blues Scale is the “Best” you can Do to Build the Foundation to Compose for any other Genre

– the D Blues Scale is the Foundation with, D, F, G, Gb, A, C, D

– so D to m3, 4th, Dim5, 5th, 7th, Octave

– you can Bend nicely between 4th and 5th (incl. Flatted Ab), or between 7th and Octave

– also the 6th can be used to Bend to the 7th (but the 6th Not as a Traditional Note in the Scale)

– also the 2nd can be used to Bend to the 3rd (but the 2nd Not as a Traditional Note in the Scale)

– a Classical “Jan Hammer” Bend is to Alternate between 7th and Octave, where the 7th is in Bended Position same as Octave (kind a 2 Step Process, where One is Octave, 2 is Bended 7th and so on)

– another Technique is Play 5th, then 4th but in Bended Position to 5th and then Release Bend for the 4th (Do this Rhythmically)
