Example Adding Stuff After the Reverb

in
  • the Idea is that the Reflections (of Our Virtual Wall Created with the Reverb) Sound a Bit Different when they Come Back and thus Less Concur with the Voice Itself

1) Add a Compressor After the Reverb to Make it Bigger

    • i.e. Compress the Reverb so the Reverb Quasi Fades In and Gets Bigger Over Time (in Lexicon you can Do that with “Shape”)

    a) No Auto Gain if you Don’t Want to Make the Signal Louder or then Use it to Compensate the Ratio (e.g. for 2:1 add 2db)

    b) Range of Max -3dB Compression

    c) Ratio 2:1

    d) Slow Release of 600ms, i.e. Long = More Generous and Gorgeous but Less Snappy

    e) Fast Attack but After Initial Transients on Vocals (Around 0.40ms) while on a Snare it Could be Fastest Attack

    f) If Available Enable Lookahead of 10ms so the Reverb Really is Down Before the Next Hit

    g) Also Make the Knee Rather Hard so it Really Starts Immediately with Compression Once Threshold is Exceeded

      2) Add a Modulation Tool (e.g. Microshifter) After the Reverb and Compressor to Modulate the Reverb Tail

      • e.g. Pitch Shift Inside TH-U

      3) Tube Mics, AMP or Distortion (Decapitator) After Compressor / Modulation

      • i.e. Simulate as if the Wall Sound is Created with Tube Mics and / or Pre Amp
