Set Relative Levels for Kick Bass Hat

in
  • Use Mastered Reference to Set Relative Levels of Kick, Bass and Hat in your Mix by Measuring Max Volume
  • You can Basically Do All Below in ADPTR

1) Normalize Reference Track and then Check Max Volume via DR Meter of Reference Kick, Bass and Hat

  • e.g. Kick = -10, Hat = -35, Bass = -14

2) Check in Detail How Much DR the Reference Bass Track has

  • i.e. Play and Measure Different Bass Spots in Reference to See How Much Compression has been Applied to Bass
  • e.g. Could be -14 to -18 = 4dB of Gain Change in Bass

3) Also Use Waveform to Visually See the Elements and Differences in the Reference

4) To Actually Set Levels in Your Mix Against Reference, First Limit your Mix

  • or Else the Waveform will Look Too Different Because the Reference has also Limiting
  • i.e. Use a Loudness Meter (or Look at Dynamics Readout in ADPTR) to Measure Reference Loudness and then Adapt Values to Your Mix, e.g. a DR of 8

5) To Fix Your Problem Further Overlap Waveform (e.g. Equilibrium) of Reference and Your Mix to See Differences and Space How Well  Kick and Bass are Separated
