Spectral Synthesis

in

– Spectral Re-Synthesis Analyses the Frequency Spectrum of a Signal and “Artificially” Synthesises New Sounds Based on the Samples Spectral Characteristics

– i.e. Takes the Audible Spectrum and Splits into a Number of “Spectral Bins” (Bands) of Sound that Hold Whole Lot of Harmonic Content

– the Gaps between the Bins can then be Filled with either Sine Waves or Filtered Noise to Re-Create the Signal

– with this Harmonic Content (Frequencies) you can Play After Analysis by Moving the “Phase” of the “Bins” or Add Spectral FX

– this Analysis is Slightly Different than “Additive” (Quasi Combines “Spectral Synthesis” with “Granular Synthesis”)

– “Spectral” uses something Called “Phased Vocoding”

– “Spectral” Method is also Similar to “Time Stretching” which also uses Sort of “Phased Vocoding”

– GRM, Alchemy, Iris or Melda Provide Tools to Work with “Spectral Re-Synthesis”
