General
- if you have Rather a Mid / Treble Voice, Create at Least 4 Stacks for the Refrain to Give that Oomph
- Always Place the Stacks in a Priority Hierarchy Before Starting to Treat Them
- as for the Reverb Cut Out the Lows and the Highs, i.e. More of a Band Pass, also you can Increase the Vibe of a Reverb by Pushing the Reverbs Nice Parts and Reduce Not so Nice Parts
- Most Rappers are Very Close to the Mic, this can Lead to the Proximity Effect which is an Over Abundance in the Low End, Use Silk Low Band to Control the Low End
Refrain Stack
1) Record Refrain at Least 4 Times, i.e. 4 Stacks
2) Route All Refrains to an AUX and Insert Compressor -> EQ -> De-Esser
3) Pan Main to Center, Stack 1 to Center, Stack 2 to -81 and Stack 3 to +81
- i.e. Don’t Go All the Way to the Left or Right Because then you Notice Much More that there is Another Vocal
4) Decrease Level of Stack 1 to -15, Stack 2 to -17 and Stack 3 to -17
- i.e. Decrease Level of the Stacks Until that you Don’t Really Hear Them but Notice it when you Bypass Them
5) Low Shelf the Stacks More than the Main Takes, e.g. About -9dB Until 200Hz
Verse Stack
1) Record at Least 2 Verses with at Least 1 Overdub, i.e. 2 Stacks with 1 Overdub
- i.e. the Verse is Not Meant to be as Big as the Hook thus 2 Stacks Should Fit
2) Route All Verses to an AUX and Insert Compressor -> EQ -> De-Esser
3) Pan Stack 1 also to Center
4) Decrease Level of Stack 1 to -13
- i.e. Decrease Level of the Stacks Until that you Don’t Really Hear Them but Notice it when you Bypass Them
5) Adjust the Adlibs so it Fits, Surely Remove Nasty Resonances that Disturb Verse
6) Low Shelf the Stacks More than the Main Takes, e.g. About -9dB Until 200Hz
