Compress Full Mix Without Losing Low End Fullness

• Reduce Amount of Compression in the Low End is Beside Other Common Tricks the Best

• for this you Need a Compressor / Tool that has Frequency Dependent Ratios or a Clean Multiband Compressor (Kotelnikov GE or Multiplicity or Unisum) 

1) Insert Multiplicity with 2 X Over Bands and a Crossover at Around 150Hz (to 200Hz)

2) Start to Compress the Full Mix Above 150Hz with 2:1 Ratio Up 1-2dB GR

• Make Sure to Set the Sidechain for the Band that Should Compress to “Wide” so it Listens to the Entire Incoming Signal (Instead Band Only)

3) Leave Signal Below Crossover (Low End) Uncompressed or to a Almost Invisible Compression in Order to Keep the Fullness

4) Of Course you can Change the Band Width or Take this Approach to Compress the Mids Only while Leave the Low and High End Uncompressed
