1) End User Wants to Feel the Kick Without Rattling the Trunk of the Car

    2) Use a HP to Roll Off Unneeded Low End

    • Typically Around 30Hz

    3) Then Use a Surgical EQ to Correct Resonances in the Low End

    – e.g. for 808 Basses (or Other Pitched Kicks / Sub) the Dominant Frequency will be the Most Prominent and Often Needs to be Tamed

    4) Also Cut at Around 160Hz or 320Hz is Often Useful to Reduce Muddiness

    5) Then Use a Color EQ with a Pultec Shelf to Boost or Cut the Lows Depending on Song

    6) Boost the High End to Accentuate Vocals and Cymbals while also Help Instruments Cut Through

    – e.g. Often a Boost Above the 10kHz is Needed to Achieve the Radio Polish

    7) Then Use a Surgical EQ to Correct Resonances that Become Obvious After Boosting the High End

    – i.e. Tame Harsh Vocals (Often Around 3kHz to 6kHz) / Cymbals (Often Around 6kHz to 8kHz)

    a) Equilibrium Notch to Remove General Resonances

    b) De-Ess Sibilant Vocals

    c) Then After Taming the Resonances, Boost the Whole High End Again with a High Shelf Color EQ Such as Maag Air Band

    8) Use Compression on Purpose

    9) Add Harmonics

    10) Limit with Low in Mind

    • e.g. in Modern Hip Hop the Kick & Bass is in the Focus
    • thus use a Multi Band Limiter to Exclude the Lows from Being Limited to Preserve Enough Air in the Low End
