- Always Start with Mixing Kick and Snare
- Use Feedforward Type of Compression to Get the Boom Bap Compression Sound (e.g. Magic Death Eye)
Kick
1) Add 1.5dB at 60Hz with a Pultec EQ
2) Add Transient Shaper to Increase the Attack a Tiny Bit
3) Send to Parallel NY Buss, Add a Limiter After Parallel Compressor to Chop Off Peaks Even More (Limit About 2dB)
Snare
1) Compress About 3dB to Get More Out of the Snare
2) Roll Off Lows and Highs, i.e. Since Snare Plays Throughout the Song you Don’t Want the Listener Turn Off Especially with an Overall Bright Clap / Snare
3) Send to Parallel NY Buss
4) Add Little Reverb to Snare
Drum Sub
1) Dip Up to 5 dB Around 5kHz to Make Drums More LoFi
2) Use Vulf Comp in Parallel
3) Use SSL Comp
4) Use Little Stereo Room on Drums but Cut Lows to 500kHz After the Reverb with an EQ to Reverb Upper Frequency Register Only
5) Mono Low End on Drums
6) Use a Hard Clipper at the End to Control Transients
