EQ Before or After Compression Ideas

in
  • the Short Answer is EQ Before Compression will Work Mostly of the Time as you Don’t Want the Compressor to React on Rumble or Resonances etc.
  • i.e. thus you Usually Clean Up the Signal and then Send to Compressor
  • but there Might be Situations Where you Boost the Low End of a Signal and then the Compressor Might Work Too Hard in which Case you Simply Place the EQ After Compressor, or Do Basic EQ Before Compressor and then Simply the Low End Boost with Another EQ After the Compressor
  • Another Method is to Do Complimentary EQ Afterwards, e.g. you Like How the Compressor Works / Pumps After the EQ Low End Boost but the Sound is Too Boomy then Insert Another EQ After the Compressor and Reduce the Low End Boost Afterwards
  • of Course the Best Method is when the Compressor Provides an Internal SC EQ that Analyses the Signal Prior Compressing and Lets you Adjust of What Frequencies are Compressed How (or when the Compressor Provides the Option to Route an External EQ in which you Adjust What Frequencies are Compressed How)
