General

– means to Play a String without Pressing any Frets

– i.e. Bowing or Plucking a String and Let that Note Sound without Touching / Modifying the Strings with your Left Hand Fingers

– a “0” Indicates “Open String” and such a Sequence of Notes would be on the Lowest String (thickest, lowest Note = Open 1st = 1st Fret, 2nd = 2nd Fret etc.)

– you can Play every available String Open (Guitar = 6 Strings, Violin = 4 Strings etc.)

Example

E = 1st String

B = 2nd String

G = 3rd String

D = 4th String

A = 5th String

E = 6th String, Play this String Open, then Put your Left Hand Index Finger on the 1st Fret and Play it, then Play 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Fret
